Fresh with the success of the new series, Art finished his "Gumby Movie" script and picked out a crew to produce it at the Sausalito studio. For a fraction of the budget that current features are produced, the Premavision crew made a masterpiece of clay animation.  


The animation was finished by 1992, and it was released in theaters in 1995. The small distribution company that had the rights did not advertise the theatrical release, so very few people knew it was out there. The video release was handled by Warner Vision, who advertised a little more. It sold close to a million copies. It also aired numerous times on Showtime HBO and the Disney Channel. Many fan letters have told Art that their children love the Gumby Movie, and watch it over and over again.

  
In the middle of the 90's Nickelodeon used all of the Gumby Adventures from the 50's, 60's and 80's for it's anchor spots at 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. It was on top of their ratings for over three years. Wherever Art goes now he is mobbed by early teens who grew up loving Gumby in the mid '90s.
